Ladytron, TLA, 4.16.06
Ladytron played an Easter show at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philly with French Kicks and brought in a pretty big crowd. This was my first TLA show ever, first time on South Street in fact, so it was very exciting. I'm starting to recognize concert-goers down there now, like the girl who I had waited in line at the parking garage with after Art Brut. I was going to say hello to her, but then, you know, I didn't. (PS-hey, if you're she, I'm the bearded dude in the little blue jacket. Hello!)
The TLA has a bar area, from which drinks are not to be removed (boo), a balcony, and a sloping floor down to the stage. Sound was good, sight lines were good, Lager costs $5.25.
First up, French Kicks. Will introduced me to "One More Time" last year, but that's all I knew of them. I had got to thinking how much they sounded like The Walkmen when, at the end of their set, onto the stage walked The Walkmen's road manager or whatever (Davidson kids may remember him as the dude with long hair and a big nose and a blazer). Yeah, they were aight.

Ladytron took the stage clad in black and wielding, I'd say, at least six keyboards. (The ladies of Ladytron are hotties, by the way.) A lot of Ladytron songs sound pretty much the same to me, but I would've been super-miffed if they hadn't played "Seventeen," which they did as the last song of their encore. Nothing terribly exciting to write about here. Not the most memorable show ever, but you could dance to it.

Yeah, I'd probably do Ladytron. Did you ever find the steak joint(s)?
Yeah, I found a pretty ethnic place around 5th or so.
